Prescription Drug Services

The lives of Scott Countians are positively impacted when the community supports prevention services. Through working with the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (Iowa HHS) and Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), the CADS Prevention Department is able to provide Scott County residents the following prescription drug/opioid-related prevention services:

  • "Be Prepared to Save a Life | Naloxone" media campaign
  • Psychostimulants/Opioid one-time presentations (Target Audience: first responders, healthcare providers, SUD treatment and prevention professionals)
    • Substance Abuse 101 
    • Primary Prevention Strategies to Address Opioid Use at the Community Level 
    • Psychostimulants: The Necessary Information for Iowa’s Front Line 
    • Stigma Associated with Substance Use Disorder 
    • Reducing Stigma in the Healthcare Community 
    • Trauma Informed Care for First Responders 
    • Harm Reduction Strategies in the Community 
    • Behavioral Health Equity 
  • Wellness Initiatives for Senior Education (WISE)
    • Learn about the aging process and how to make healthy lifestyle choices
    • Celebrate this exciting stage of life and all the benefits that come with it
    • Discuss risk factors and behaviors older adults should avoid to stay healthy
    • Examine how alcohol, prescription medications and over-the-counter medications affect seniors differently and how they can avoid problems
    • Learn how to use simple tools to help you feel more empowered about your health and the healthcare you receive
